Afrique Sogué is a West African percussion and dance company rooted in Manding traditions of Guinea and the greater West African region.

Through drum and dance, we preserve ancestral rhythms while igniting connection, cultural understanding, and collective joy through performance, education, and community engagement.

Online Drum Program

Afrique Sogué is developing a subscription-based online learning platform featuring West African drumming and dance instruction led by Mohamed Lamine Bangoura. Through weekly video content and guided study, students will be able to learn, practice, and stay connected to the rhythms wherever they are.

Culturally rooted assemblies, residencies, and after-school programs that support learning, creativity, and cross-cultural understanding for youth.

Bridging the gap between heritage and the classroom. Our trauma-informed residencies and after-school programs use Manding percussion as a foundation for leadership, emotional regulation, and cultural pride in Oakland youth.
